Facial Rejuvenation for Smooth Lines and Wrinkles
Dermal fillers such as Restylane®, Voluma® and JUVÉDERM® are extremely popular in South Florida for facial rejuvenation. These remarkable products restore lost volume and smooth lines and wrinkles, resulting in a younger look without surgery. Dr. Jason Cooper is a board-certified plastic surgeon offering dermal fillers at his Jupiter practice near Palm Beach Gardens. Unlike many plastic surgeons, he performs these injections himself to ensure an optimal experience and outcome for his patients.

Speaking from Experience
“I use fillers to smooth transitions around the face and add volume to the upper and lower lips. I prefer to add small amounts of filler in order to blend the product with the patient’s skin and tissues. A small amount of volume injected properly within the upper lip cheek junction can give the appearance of a significant lift to the cheek.”
What Are Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable products formulated to add volume, giving your skin a smoother appearance, and fullness where it is desired. Many modern fillers are made using hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body, so allergic reactions are rare. Although HA fillers are the most common, Dr. Cooper offers other types of fillers designed for specific aesthetic purposes. Fillers are a good treatment if you are concerned about:
- Deep lines such as nasolabial folds
- Hollows under the eyes
- Thin lips
- Flattened, droopy cheeks
Fillers vary in consistency, but most are a gel-like substance that provide natural-looking volume. They are an excellent option for patients who aren’t ready for facial plastic surgery, but who want to reduce early signs of aging with no downtime.
Customizing Your Cosmetic Procedure
Dr. Jason Cooper creates an overall facial rejuvenation strategy that begins with listening to you describe your cosmetic goals. By assessing your facial structure, signs of aging, and skin tone, Dr. Jason Cooper can plan the injections to provide the benefits you want. He may recommend combining fillers with injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic or similar products, or other non-surgical treatments. Dr. Cooper may also suggest using your own fat as a filler. Fat transfer is a technique in which unwanted fat is taken from one area of the body using liposuction, purified, then re-injected.
There is a reason Dr. Jason Cooper is regarded as one of South Florida’s premier plastic surgeons; the consistently beautiful results that only a specialist with his experience and training can get.
What to Expect from Fillers
One of the reasons fillers are popular is because the results are noticeable immediately. The actual treatment takes only a few minutes, although Dr. Cooper’s thorough assessment and evaluation of your face means your appointment will last at least a half-hour. Most fillers now include a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the injections.
Common side effects include minimal swelling and bruising at the injection site, which typically fade within a few days. Cold packs applied to the injection sites help diminish swelling.
Fillers are temporary treatments and the duration of the results varies.
- HA fillers such as JUVÉDERM, Restylane, Perlane and others may last from 9 months to a year in most cases. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, the first filler approved by the FDA specifically to restore volume to the mid-face area, has been clinically shown to last up to 2 years.
- RADIESSE® (Calcium hydroxylapatite) lasts on average between a year and 18 months.
- Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra® Aesthetic), unlike HA fillers, stimulates the production of collagen to gradually give you a more youthful appearance. Multiple appointments are needed to get the desired results, which can last more than 2 years.
